Fantazy Land Theme Park

I was wondering if this park is still open. I had a friend that went their I want to say four years ago. And I remember him bringing back pictures of this amusement park. Oh my goodness it looked so run down. He said it was the worst time he ever had at an amusement park. I was just wondering if this place was still open? I am not sure why he went to Alexandria and decided to visit an amusement park? I personally can think of a number of different things I would rather visit.

It is still open, but that doesn't mean you'll want to go there. Themeparkreview.com calls it the "worst theme park in the world." It is rundown in general, and they've jacked up the prices for tourists. Here is a link, complete with pictures:

Doesn't look too safe to me!

Thanks so much for the link. I remember seeing the pictures of it my friend took and it looked pretty run down. I will have to check out the link. Not to sure if I would even want to trust the rides myself.

Wow, that is *really* bad looking. I wonder if they still have to have to do the safety inspections and so on that other theme parks have to do?

That's really sad. I think it must have been something entirely different in its day. Of course, there's no telling how long ago that was. Do you think it was started because they hoped to cash in on the tourist crowd that the antiquities int he area were bringing in? Or did they actually WANT something like that in Alexandria?

Yes, that DEFINITELY looked better than the Fantazyland park!

I don't know why, but I never really thought about people in Egypt having theme parks. I guess I figured it was more of a "western" thing. LOL It makes sense, though, everyone needs a get-away now and then.

Wow, thanks, EgyptianSharm! This looks like a really great place! My first stop was the food court (hehe of course!) and it sounds as if they have a great selection of cuisines. The entertainment looks fabulous, too! How close is this to Cairo?
