Post Climbing the Pyramids

I have a friend who travelled to Egypt a couple of years ago. While there, he bribed a guard to let him in and climbed one of the pyramids to watch the sunrise. I have since heard of several people who have done this. But the reason no one is supposed to climb these structures is to preserve them, right? So what do you think of people who break the rules in order to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience?

You know I think this is terrible of the gaurds to allow. I mean really will they just do anything for money? Why bother having them if they are not going to protect the site from people that want to do things like this? I don't get it?

Having visited the pyramids, someone would have to pay me to climb one! Not the other way around. Those things are tall and steep! I guess I'm not adventurous but I do have a fear of falling.

I think I've heard of opportunities to go into passageways in some pyramids. But I think it may be uncomfortable to someone who's claustrophobic.

Have you heard of this?

You are right they are very high. Wouldn't see me wanting to climb them. There was a picture on here not to long ago that had a great comparison of how tall they are next to a human.

While it would be neat, I think I would be too frightened to bribe a guard to let me climb or enter the pyramids. Since they are not meant for tourist traffic, there is no guarantee they will be safe.

I would have thought, besides preservation of the site, that they had the guards to keep people from climbing on them and getting hurt. I mean, let's face it. Those rocks are pretty old, and they might not be stable. Can you imagine a fall from on of the pyramids? There'd be nothing left at the bottom. Yuck!

I am with you I would be afraid to bribe any gaurd. I would be afraid of getting in trouble. But you're right I would think the rocks might not be all that stable. At least to climb around on.

The Pyramids are amazing that they're in as good shape as they are, but up close, there is definite environmental erosion and some human wear too. I prefer not to touch!

What if the guards just eventually gave up and anyone could go on the pyramids? The pyramids would be ruined in no time! I don't want such a beautiful structure to go to waste from humans.
