Just try to relax and go with the flow, but remember the prices are in Egyptian pounds, so don't get too excited as 10 EGY pounds only equal 1 GB pound.

Just do a quick divide by 10 and see if you are being ripped off, if you are tell them to bugger off, it helps to try to negotiate a price for a service before you start as you will have more leverage to be able to walk away.

If you need a contact in Cairo, I know a good lady guide there who is really good and can look after you there, let me know if you want her number.

can anyone sugest a good cheap hotel in cairo? or an apartment or flat? any sugestions gratefully recieved

I have used Cheap Hotels & Cheap Apartments from TravelRepublic.co.uk. in the past and have found reasonable rates, although you do get what you pay for

They have the Concord hotel available at around £20 per night.
