Post The City Of Cairo -

From a very early period there was a town on the east back of The Nile , Opposite The Pyramids which bore the name of Khere - Ohe , Or '' Place Of Combat '' . Because Horus and set were believed to have fought once . The greeks called it . Babylon , And the Romans presereved this name when they built up the settement into a stronghold . After The Arab conquest in 641 A.D. The Caliphs built a New Capital in the plain to the north of the Roman stronghold , Naming it Fustat , Or Misr El - Fustal or Qaahira meaning '' One Who Conquers Or Prevails .

Are you saying that "Babylon," as mentioned in the Bible, was in Egypt, and NOT in Iraq as has always been assumed?

I would be curious about some more info behind the theory as I'd always read that Babylon was not too far from Bagdad on the Euphrates River. Where in Egyptian history did it get moved?

Do you think it's possible that there were TWO Babylons? From everything I've always read, it was in Iraq. I'm not disputing your information, just find it's hard to believe that it's so far from where I'd always heard it was.

My overstanding it was [ Iraq ] too , I have been to two diffrent classes on egyptian teaching one called it Babylon's the other said Iraq , So I could be mistaken , I don't mean to misinform anyone I'm still learning myself . I'm going back to class next week and I will question the teacher again .

Oh, I'm not upset and I don't think you would intentionally mislead anyone. I think it's interesting. If, in fact the Babylon of the Bible were in Egypt rather than Iraq, it would be interesting to know. I'll look forward to what you find out.

Let us know what the teacher says ...it would be so interesting to know what the theory is on this one. Thanks so much for sharing.

What if the Bible was misinterpreted and it was really talking about the Babylon in Egypt. What would happen then?
