Post Al-Azhar Park

The Azhar Park is the largest hilly green ground located in the heart of the Cairo, with wonderful views of the surrounding area, and the most significant historic districts of Islamic Egypt.

It is one of the most beautiful places in the city ,a great place for a nice unforgettable day out , lots of cafes, restaurants and places to sit and admire the view. Has beautiful interior design and architecture. It is surrounding with the most famous mosques in Cairo Sultan Hassan Mosque and Al-Refae Mosque…also the Citadel. In the park there are three fresh water reservoirs for the city and there are shaded walkways, play area for the children, museum, hill top restaurant and Lakeside Cafe. Also, There are over 325 different plant species and most of them are native grown.

Here are some pictures for the park….

The park is wonderful to visit. My husband and I went there and spent some hours just walking around and looking. We did eat at one of the restaurants, it's well known but I can't remember the name at the moment. I found it overpriced with a minimum buy, but other than that we had a great time.
It was dark when we left and we got a little confused trying to leave because it's such a large place.
There were quite a few people with children around so it's apparently a great place to take the kids as well.
This is definitely a retreat from the normal hustle and bustle of Cairo.

*edit - great pictures by the way.
