This Zoo at Giza is supposed to be fantastic. It focuses on promoting environmental awareness in Egypt and has an amazing number of exotic animals as well as imported plants and a museum. This zoo was actually built way back in 1891 and is supposed to be quite the sight, with mosaics and murals and pebble-paved paths. Has anyone been there? It sounds lovely.
Zoo's are by far one of the best things to visit when in a different country. They have access to different animals and different plants and they are usually pretty impressive architecturally. I would stress going to the Zoo when in Egypt.

I agree with this... it's much better seeing unique and exotic animals in their own environment and that usually means in another country.
That sounds like a great way to raise the awareness of people to be concerned about environmental issues. It's good for children to learn about the planet at an early age.
It sounds like the imported plants and the museum make it an excellent one-stop attraction.
I've always been fascinated by zoos, particularly how they create the environments for the animals enclosures. I've often wondered, in zoos I've visited in the States, if they've gotten the enclosures correct. I would love to see how animals are kept in their native countries.
I thought Egypt was in Africa. Do I have my geography wrong? LOL
I'm teasing. I'm sure you mean that I should travel more into southern Africa. And, yes, I would love to go on a picture taking safari some day.
I have never been on a safari. But my parents went on one and you are right they definently know how to keep the animals in their own enviroment. As for going to the zoo in Egypt I never thought about doing that. But I would agree that seeing zoos in other countries would be a great way to see species you might not normally see back home.
