Departure Tax?

I notice at ask-alladin.com it mentions that there's currently no departure tax from the Cairo airport, but starting in October there will be one which is implemented into the ticket price.

I think that's convenient, because you won't have to make a point of setting aside the correct amount of currency for the departure tax.

That is nice that it will be in with the ticket price but have you heard how much more it will make the ticket price go up? Thanks

Ticket prices are high enough right now!! I can't say I'm thrilled about being gouged any more for some tax or other which is really just another way to try to take all the tourists money.

I've paid departure taxes for other countries, and it wasn't that high. Would it really increase ticket prices much?

I got the impression that the departure tax rate wasn't necessarily set yet, assuming that it was October 2007 that the article was referring to.

Based on other departure taxes I've experienced, I wouldn't expect it to be very much, though.

I'm only whining because looking at ticket prices now on Lufthansa, it's close to 2000 dollars to get a return flight. It was only 1050 a few months ago.
*sigh*

Wow, Iman, prices have jumped tremendously on Lufthansa! I'd be complaining about the departure tax, too! That's ALMOST double. What's their reasoning for the increase? Oh, don't tell me, I know, gas prices have risen again. ;(

You are right that everytime you turn around you get taxed for something else. It seems like this almost everywhere anymore. Hopefully it won't make the price jump to high.

That is disturbing.

Does Lufthansa raise ticket prices for the busier tourist season the way some resort property prices are increased?
