Favorite Thread!

I will definitely be checking back on this thread to watch it filling with yummy things! I can't wait to see some of them. I haven't cooked Egyptian meals yet, so I'm here to start building up a collection of some great recipes.

you can see the Turkish influence in Egyptian food..not surprising since egypt was part of the Ottoman empire for over 300 years..ive been looking at some recipes..and the food is very much like that from Hatay which is next door to Syria...i love arabic food..my waist line doesnt but i'm past the age of being vain!!

I know what you mean... sometimes it's much more fun to enjoy good food than it is to constantly be watching the waist! What's your favorite Arabic main dish? Dessert?

I'll be checking it too, since I've never had Egyptian food and would love to try! I'd say I'm very culinarily adventurous, hehe.

That's how I am. I always try new cuisines when we're on vacation
somewhere and I often try cooking various types of ethnic food, too.
The only thing that gives me a problem is not being able to find an
ingredient once in a while, but internet shopping takes care of that.

I have the same problem with finding certain ingredients. We don't have any speciality shops in my area. I will have to check the internet. Never even thought of speciality shops online. I love trying new things, not real big on cooking them for the first time but I try.

Word of advice/caution here. When I go to online places like this,
or places that sell goodies from the past that can't be found anywhere else,
my credit card *really* groans. (Oh, not because the prices are
horribly high usually, but I mean because I go way overboard! It's a lot
of fun!)
