The women behind the men
In the United States, the First Lady has various duties that she is expected to peform while her husband is in office, most of which include helping to entertain the visiting dignitaries that visit the White House. However, she also has time to work on projects that are special to her - one of which is literacy among children, since she used to be a school teacher.
I've noticed that Mrs. Mubarak, who holds the same position as Mrs. Bush, also has her "pet projects" that she is involved in - chairing the Advisory Board to the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, ensuring that the children of Egypt will prosper.
I think it's great that these women are given the opportunity to support not only their husbands, but also their nations, by taking leadership positions in organizations that are humanitarian in nature.
