Good Morning to you all ...
Within two days Ramadan will start….and currently about 1 billion Muslims around the world are preparing to celebrate the beginning of the holy month. But in Egypt Ramadan is different than elsewhere.
Nowadays streets are all decorated and lighted, shops are full of colorful lanterns ( fanoos), which is very joyful for children and also they spread the spirit of Ramadan in each home…. Hotels as well used to bring a very big one and put it in its lobby and restaurant…
Streets are bustling with people who, in preparation for Ramadan, are rushing to buy the traditional Ramadan food ingredients like (Raisins, Nuts, almonds, walnuts and pistachios).
They are welcoming Ramadan with different kinds and shapes of food for Iftar (the first meal after fasting)…which is usually a very rich meal, as it considers the principal one. Also different kinds of desserts such as “Konafa” & “ Katayf”.A lot of charitable tables will full the Egyptian streets for those travelers and poor for Iftar...
During this month people usually sleep very late, spending time praying and reading Quran or having fun in famous places with families and friends for Sohour (meal before fasting) ,just before dawn.
In two days, Egyptians will start gathering around radios and televisions to hear the news of the sighting of the crescent moon and shout for joy greeting each others at the coming of the month and media start broadcasting many songs to welcome the holy month...
