What are the connections like to rest of Egypt?
How easy is it to travel to Luxor and Cairo from Hurghada?
I am going to Cairo and then to Luxor from there, I was thinking about going to Hurghada from Luxor and then to Cairo - is this easily done and what sort options and costs are involved?

Flight from Hurghada to Cairo approx 358 LE
Coach to Cairo - 70 LE - that is the super duper luxury one.
Both very easy.

five hours to cairo by bus , and only thee to luxor. you still have to join a tourist convoy . managed by the tourist police.
good luck and have a great holiday

I hate to disagree with you Egyptian Sharm, but if you go on the buses to either Cairo or Luxor you don't have to join the convoy. Have done both many times. It is only if you go with a tour company that you have to join the convoy.

To be honest Egyptian Sharm, I much prefer going by local bus than with a bus load of tourists. It is much more fun and educational. Nearly every local with try and talk with us, and of course the hospitality extends even on the bus. The number of times we have been offered bread, juice etc is countless.

Oh good grief, that is a bit too long to be sitting on a bus!
Have you been on the train from Luxor to Aswan? Now that was a real experience.
The train from Luxor to Cairo wasn't too bad apart from the toilets.

I have done cairo to aswan by train (night train NOT sleeper either) and then train aswan to Luxor then train back to cairo, was great fun but cant remember cost it was a while back
Hurghada to Luxor by local bus takes about 5-6 hours and no need for convoy, cost 25LE
