Furniture shopping
hi there,
have an off-plan apartment which will be finished next July. I am visiting Hurghada next April.
Can anyone recommend any furniture stores that I could order furniture from and if (unlikely) any of them have a web site.
many thanks,
Gordon

White House on El Nasr Road is on two floors and has some fabulous furniture.
In and Out almost opposite Egypt Air is another good place to shop.
There is supposed to be another new place, but the 'opening soon' sign has been up for at least 3 months, but can keep you posted.

No sorry Cleo they don't. If you give me an idea of what you are after, I will visit and get different prices for you.
The two I have mentioned are European quality furniture places. There are lots of other shops though with different prices, again depending on quality. The other option is to get things made for you, but a word of warning, they don't let the wood dry out properly before using for making things, so inevitably it splits. I had two blanket boxes made which split on the top. Easily enough tarted up though, I bought a couple of cheap belts, cut them to size and stuck them on. They look rather trendy.

I am thinking of buying a one bed place. What would you budget for fully furnishing it from scatch?

go to Areeka Furniture, located in Sakkalah, opposite Sea gull hotels, next to Arabia restaurant.
It is the largest showroom in Hurghada!
All fixed prices. For sofa, sofabed, bedroom, dining table, cabinet, bedding&linen, accessories and office

Areeka is very good. I bought a lovely coffee table from there for 350 LE.
I think their bedroom furniture is expensive though. Our entire bedroom set, king size bed, two bedside tables, sliding door wardrobe, dressing table and chest of draws cost just over 9,000 in total. It is German quality so therefore the drawers really do run straight, the doors haven't yet fallen out or off the wardrobe.
There is also another new one, if you are coming from Sekalla towards the airport, before the Nile Hospital there is a road off to the right, it eventually takes you to El Gouna. About 2 km along that road there is a brand new furniture shop on the right hand corner. I haven't been in yet but will go this week-end and check them out.
Areeka by the way have some absolutely gorgeous leather suites approx 7,000 LE.

Areeka delivers the next day, sometimes even the same day!
I've heard about the other one (the one cynic mentioned) that some one saw a sofa over there which was LE 17,000, but because he was a "friend" (they never met!) he could buy the sofa for LE14,000. The same sofa is sold at Areeka for LE7,300!!
