Over-rated sights

What would you consider to be the number one sight in Luxor? If you were only able to see one thing there, which would it be? There are so many hyped up places in the guidebooks and when you actually get there, it is so dull and plain that you donīt know what the fuss was about. How does Luxor rate on your over-rated scale?

I think I would have to go see The Ramesseum. The stonework is amazing and it's a pretty large area so there's a lot of room to walk around and look at stuff.

Things like that fascinate me.

of course you will need to see the major stuff there, Karnak and Luxor temples. then you have to cross to the west bank , where u find a lot to see, Valley of the kings,Valley of the queens, Hatshepsut temple, i recommend as well Ramessuem , and Habo Temple.

Although I have been to Luxor many times, the first time was actually the only time I 'did' the temples! I think i'm saving it all for living there.

There are 2 places though that stand in my mind I will never forget, and both I want to do again in a less hurried (was with a tour guide and group) fashion and on a cooler day!! They are Hatshepsut's Mortuary Temple and Karnak Temple. These 2 places I cant choose between for beauty and awe.

Lol, I hate to tell you Tangent, but the fantastic picture you posted is Luxor Temple and not the Ramesseum.
My own number one sight is Karnak Temple! For the sheer size and magnificence.

Lol do you mean have I spent a lot of time in Karnak temple or in Luxor? Actually the answer to both would be....... yes..... a lot!
I have been visiting Egypt since 1998, 2 or 3 times a year and I still have not seen everything I want to see!
You are a very typical Egyptian though ES.... I know many who have never been inside a temple, and who never want to lol.

No Actually i have a bigger problem , i used to live since i was a kid in the Pyramids street in Giza, so i used to see the pyramids every day from my Window. then when i got married i lived even closer to the pyramids and i can still see them everyday. i guess i see those things as a normal thing for you. i mean i would love to wake up in the morning and see it snowing in Egypt ! lol

Lol Sharm. I guess its a bit like living here and never going into the wonderful countryside that we have, like never visiting the amazing castles and stately homes that are literally on our doorsteps.
And it snowed here yesterday!
