trains

are there daily trains from Luxor to Alex please? would it be possible to do the trip in one day, or not?

The trains run daily, there is express service too, but I don't think it's possible to do a day trip it's quite a distance between the two places, you need to change trains in Cairo.

If you want to do a day trip, then I would suggest fly there (that might also be via Cairo) it will probably work out cheaper and a lot quicker.

The train fares are higher for foreign travellers, and payable in USD I think.

There is a direct flight to Alex via Sharm but the timings are pretty bad. You dont have to actually change planes in Sharm, and they dont advertise that they land and pick up in Sharm, but its the easiest way to get there if you want to fly. They dont fly every day but I think there are only 2 days without a flight. Check the egyptair website
