I was told that now you cant take pics from the balloons, sadly
That's bloody stupid , one of the reasons I wanted to do the balloon ride was so that I can take some pictures, thanks for warning me, I will make sure I can use my camera, otherwise might have to miss it.

Do you know why that is? Are they afraid of people dropping them and holding them liable for the damage? It seems a little silly to not allow people to take pictures... It would still be an amazing experience, even without the pictures I think it would be worth it.
I dont remember why but it was a new law brought in last year for all the balloon companies.
The balloon companies are under the Aviation Authority laws and i know Luxor is a military airport so it 'could' be something to do with that. I will try to find out for you.

Ah, a military area! Well that makes a lot of sense then... if they wouldn't allow tourists on the ground taking pictures of their facilities, they wouldn't allow it from the air either.
I don't think its because of the airport because the balloons are not allowed to fly close to the airport
But I think it is something to do with the various security checkpoints on the West Bank. It is certainly a security measure.
OK I checked it out, its a 'security' thing but thats all they are told.
There is apparently an authorized photographer and you can buy pics through them but not necessarily any pics taken on YOUR ride, just pics taken from the air.
