I was flipping thru the satelite last night and this episode came on...i recognized the koshary restaurant and was like yay hes in cairo!
it was on again right after so i got to see the beginning.
i love anthony bourdain, i think if i was a male, i would be him...note how he wouldnt see the pyramids because he cant stand the whole tourist thing....yup, thats me alright

no big fancy hotels and stuff, just real down to earth people. and my favorite part was when he is in the desert...i loved to go there and just be alone. makes you feel like you are the only person left on earth, and it does get quite romantic. i was laughing at how they was cooking the mab because just the other day i was writing how i witnessed this for myself
I was not satisfied with the program though...they didnt cover enough of the city and made it out to look like a place where only men are allowed to hang out in cafes and stuff. there are many times i went to a tearoom and was the only woman there, had fun playing chess with an old guy too

he should have taken them to some nightlife spots...and he only hung out in the Bulaq type areas...he didn't go to sharm or anything.
and of course, i was fumed at the fact he didn't cover any bellydancers
but watching the show made tears come to my eyes because you just dont know how badly i want to move back there....ya, its overly crowded and crazy, but I love it...everyday is a new thing and the people rock.
so yes tina, egypt is like what u saw, but better!
