What is the most popular music in Egypt today? Is it the artists from within Egypt or more of a European or American type of music?

i have found that its more to each his own...of course all of the new stuff coming mostly out of lebanon is liked as it is more upbeat and sexual (my opinion), but the classics are still highly admired. of course they listen to our music.

that is true, but at least with Nancy she can actually sing, wheras Haifa is just for show. Having said that the classic music is way better like Fayrouz, Om Kulthum etc I also like some Khlaeeji (Gulf) Arabic music because a lot of the instruments used is very classical. But as I said in another thread, one modern singer who stands out and still has very much a classical style is Kazem al Saher
