So, basically you're saying that independent travel is possible, just a little more complicated? And that you need to depend on the generosity of the local people to give you information. That doesn't seem like it would be a problem. Are there people that will hire themselves out as guides?

I cannot remember the cost of the local bus Luxor to Hurghada..... but Nefertari used the bus not too long ago, so she would be able to give you an accurate cost. But it was only a few egyptian pounds
