Hi

I am thinking about buying a place to rent out in Hurghada

Is there a ready market for rental?

what is the type and size of property likely to rent best and is there a definite season

any information gratefully received

There is a good rental market in Hurghada, the best rental properties are going to be close to sea and resort and facilities, the season seems to be pretty much all year round.

but is there any type of property that rents best. eg house with 3 bedrooms, studio apartment or what?

I think a 1 or 2 bed apartment is best because that fits in most criteria and easily let, you can probably get better rental rate from a villa, but you will have to invest lot more and probably won't be let as often as an apartment.

I would agree to a certain extent that either 1 or 2 bedroom apartments are the norm, BUT, there are so many on the market. I would certainly be interested in a 3 bedroom, unfurnished for a long lease. Those are like gold dust believe me.
