Purchase charges seem to be fairly high in Egypt, typically £500-£1000 for legal and contract registration.
There are two ways to register your purchase;
1. Register your purchase at the courts, basically your purchase details and contract etc is legalised and is recorded, but the title deed is not in your name (option 2), you can assign the property to another person later in the same way, this is the most used system, is quicker and less costly.
2. Register the purchase in the title deed office, this can take 3-6 months, can cost more in taxes and legal costs (more running around) but you have the title deed in your name, the down side is that you can't sell your property within 5 years, and can only own two properties in Egypt.
Needless to say most people choose option 1.
