Went back to Ain Sokhna last week and wanted to share a couple of pics with you.
For those of you not familiar with Ain Sokhna, it is on the Red Sea coast just down from Suez. The road to Ain Sokhna is a really quiet pleasant drive with a long newish highway through desert and hills.
For the East of Cairo ( Katameya area ) it is around a 45 minute drive, so is easy to get to for a day out or for a break.
The coast of Ain Sokhna is full of tourist compounds for rental and plenty hotels to book.
The one we stayed at last year was the Palmyra Hotel.
You drive along the road to the coast road and then turn left heading towards Suez and along that road past the Tulip compound around 15 km you come to the Palmyra resort.
It has its own private beach, 3 big swimming pools, 2 baby ones, gorgeous gardens filled with pomegranate, olive and citrus.
A day ticket last year was 90 le and that was use of the beach, hotel lobby, all the pools and gardens, a beach towel and a 3 course lunch included.
Great for a day out to escape Cairo.
The beach had pedalos, banana boat, fishing trips, snorkelling and scuba stuff for hire.
Hardly any tourists/europeans. Not touristy at all. No one hassling you to buy.
These pics were taken at sunset.
