We are currently looking to buy an apartment off plan and i'm unsure about the legal matters. Where can we find out this information. What should be in the contracts and all that type of information. Any information would be of great use. Also are all property's 99 yrs lease. Thanks. Ryan

interesting question. I thouight that they would be freehold as nowhere in any ads have I seen anything about 99 year lease

A lot of developers forgot to mention that for a while as there was no clear ruling on this until recently, when the government made it clear that the properties in Sinai would be sold to foreigners on lease basis only.

That is one of the reasons I didn't buy in Sharm el Sheikh.

but this 99 year lease thing doesnt seem to figure on any adverts - or none that I have noticed

is it a problem? Does it worry other purchasers?

is there any way round it?

People are still buying, as I believe it's a renewable lease, but anything could happen or change in the meantime.

It's similar to buy an apartment in UK where most of them are leasehold, so I suppose it does not worry lot of people.

why is that? I am desparate for help and advice (from a wide variety of sources) but little seems to be forthcoming
