Well we have taken the plunge and have decided to visit Sharm El Sheik. Due to other commitments we cannot get their until christmas which was when we wanted to go really. Staying at the Domina Coral Bay resort at the Harem, well that is what is planned. Not going on a package, flying BA then onto hotel so loads of questions to ask.

We have been looking on Trip Advisor at comments at the place and they are pretty well a mixed bag. It seems it is a huge complex, also their seems to be problems with Russians about the place. The Russians are not a problem to us as we have property in Alanya, Turkey this is another area they go to and seem to make an ar** of themselves.

This leads me onto another question and that is currency, the Russians only use US dollars when on holiday, what do the Egyptians prefer dollars or sterling? we have access to both and would be interested in this.

Also we have to organise our own transfer to the hotel, suggestion would be grateful, it seems to be only about 6 km to the hotel. Reccomendations are to make sure you fix the fare before getting into a taxi? Another subject that is talked about is the airport trollies! tipping is a bit of a sore point as well.

Views would be grateful, plenty of time to build up a picture of where we are going.

Thanks for the help

Andy

mushtaq is infamous around these parts
I found most places seem to prefer Euros, but they will take any currency (didn't try Turkish Lira)

You could always use you Turkish ATM card to withdraw local currency, less hassle and you can take out what you need, I think maximum per day is 3000 Egyptian Pounds.

How far does 3000 Egyptian pounds go? I would agree, from other foreign experiences, that it is easy to get money from your bank account using an ATM. You don't have to hassle with exchange rates as much that way.
