Family-friendly vacations

With so many wondrous antiquities and architecture in Egypt, I wonder what children that travel to Egypt with their families can find to do. I mean, when I was a kid, I wouldn't have wanted to go traipsing "around some dusty tomb" when there were fun things to do, instead.

So, what are kids supposed to do while in Egypt? Here's a link I found that answers that question: http://touregypt.net/egyptfamilytravel.htm

I hope someone else finds the link helpful. It took my thinking about travel to Egypt in an entirely different direction.

Did you happen to see the link on that site for the Dream Theme Park? That looked like a fun place for kids. I know that my seven year old wants to come with us when we visit. He is learning about the pyrimids at school now. But I thought this link was great to give you some ideas on what there is to see and do for children. I wonder are there any waterparks in Egypt? Just curious.

Actually, there are! From what I've been able to piece together on the web there's the Sharm el Sheik Water Park, a couple of the hotels are supposed to have waterparks on site, there's supposed to be one in Hurghada, as well, I think.

That's cool to know. I love waterparks myself. Having them onsite at your hotel would be awesome for the kids when you get done seeing the sites during the day.

Thanks for the link.

I don't have kids, but depending on their age I'd expect there to be some interest in seeing mummies' tombs after learning a little about them.

Also, I'm kind of surprised that you can find KFC, McDonald's and Pizza Hut in Egypt. That's probably helpful with smaller kids.

From what I have seen it seems like fast food is everywhere nowadays. You're right thought my sons would probably want to eat at them. I know that my oldest would love to be able to see the mummies tombs also.

You'd be surprised...you can find popular fast food chains just about anywhere nowadays! I wonder if they have fast food delivery in Egypt...I've seen it in other countries.

mushtaq is infamous around these parts
I have seen a lot of food delivery services when I was in Cairo and Alexandria, I think most of the fast food companies do a delivery service.

Even McDonald's do a home delivery.

I wonder if the McDonalds in Egypt have the traditional American menu only, or if they incorporate local dishes as well?

I think, unless there would be a problem with a culture eating beef (like in India), there would almost have to be some of the American fare in a McDonalds, but I could be wrong. I would think they'd have it because if an American came in, that's what they would expect. But, I do think having some local dishes would be great!
